Be that as it may, here are some useful tips to consider before you set out to buy a kids’ portable DVD player:

• As with most kids’ products, you have to ensure that the device is small and light weight.
• If the kids are very young, it might be a good idea if the player is durable and can survive a few drops here and there. If the portable DVD player has a hard plastic outer case and smooth rubber handles, then the kids can lug it for you, for mounting, de-installing, etc.
• Of course if the kids are slightly older, they would scream if you buy them such a playschool item. Dual screen portable DVD players might be the right choice for them.
• Single screen portable DVD players usually have larger screens than their dual screen counter-part. For kids, it is better to have larger screens as watching full-length movie on a small screen could be strenuous to the eyes.
• A DVD player for kids should have the bare minimum functions: stop, start and pause. The DVD player also has to have larger buttons which the kids can operate without any adult help.
• The kids DVD player must have at least one jack for the headphone. Of course if two kids are traveling, you could get a splitter using a Y-adapter. But without headphones, the driver might go crazy with the volume of the DVD player.
• If you want the kids to operate the DVD player independently, ensure that the set can be hooked on to an external monitor or TV set. Also, always carry an extra set of batteries.
